Marcial Báez abarca un variado espectro de las artes plásticas a lo largo de treinta años a partir de su primera exposición individual el 5 de abril de 1977 en Casa de teatro. El sentido poético ha sido la señal de identidad de su producción artística. La sensibilidad poética le ha inspirado con una rica imaginaria creativa. Así Marcial ha encontrado en múltiples temas un espacio para expresarse poéticamente con sus dibujos, sus pinturas, sus fotografías y su arte objeto (corbatas pintadas a mano, pilones, pintura sobre soga) mediante su quehacer artístico signado por la maestría, el genio y la excelencia. Sus ilustraciones son un file ejemplo de su obra dibujística y pictórico.
Libros, revistas, periódicos, suplementos, logotipos, afiches y tarjetas de felicitaciones han sido expresiones vivas de su entrañable perfil poético esmerada factura y elevada sensibilidad creativa. En su amplio recorrido en el área de la ilustración sobresalen sus recreaciones espirituales en la figura de Jesucristo. Marcial Báez covers a varied spectrum of the pictorical Arts throughout 30 years form his first individual exhibit on april 5TH, in Casa de Teatro (House of Theater). The poetic sense has been the signal of identity of his artistic production. The poetic sensibility has inspired him with a rich creative imagery. Thus Marcial has found in multiples themes a space to express himself poetically with his drawings, his paintings, his photographs, and his art object (hand painted ties, wooden bowls, painting on ropes) by means of his artistic endeavor signaled by the mastery, the genius and the excellence.
His illustrations are faithful example of his drawing and pictorial works. Books, magazines, newspapers, supplements, logos, posters and greetings cards have been living expressions of his deep poetic profile of a skilful making and highly creative sensibility. In his ample route in the area of illustrations his spiritual creations in the figure of Jesus Christ excel. Also the universe of the tainos, the sirens, the parrots, the peasants, the common and current people in the cities and the towns, the masterly passion of an artist who appears to us like a human being full of poetic inspiration.
